In 1992, Amanda Bossard began her research in marine biology at Anchorage in Alaska at the University of Alaska Pacific. Bossard started her commercial seafood career in 1999 when she began working on the ship F/V Sunset. The 65' schooner, which was transformed into an ice-fish tender was operated by Murat Aritan. The fisherman has been in commercial fishing since 1993. Bossard is currently is married to Aritan and they've come together to prove their rights to the industry. Both are in the direction of preserving resources and optimizing profits. In 2007, the mother of two young children Bella age 3 and Andre 1 Bossard and then relocating back to live in Philadelphia established a direct market wholesale distributor of seafood named Otolith. In 2007, Bossard, mother to two kids Bella, age 3, and Andre 1, and returning to Philadelphia from her home in Canada opened otolith as a direct market wholesale seafood distributor. Bossard along with Isabella Andre and Isabella Andre (ages 12, 10 respectively) are back each year, beginning in July of 2016 and continue to Southeast Alaska for the summer harvest of salmon wild. With a small 42 troller they are able to catch salmon by hooks. They then work with Aritan working in the local processing plant for a couple of weeks.
